Three of us lined up at the Parish Quarry Course on a perfect evening for the final Tuesday night of the G-Tour .
Chuck kept tempo at the front until Jake countered his own attack after the second lap prime and escaped with overall Tour leader Craig Mattern. Al Lombart bridged up, followed quickly by Jeff Zygo. The field kept the leaders in sight for the next three laps, and several riders tried to cross the gap, but the podium stayed up the road. On the final climb to the finish Craig and Jake pulled away and Craig proved by half a wheel why he deserved the overall title. What was left of the peloton blew apart as Erik Grimm, fresh from the Highlander and the Rochester Marathon, won the field sprint for 5th; while Eric Larsson, fresh from a drive to Massachusetts and back, scratched his way into 9th.
