In preparation for Bloomfield on Sunday I deemed it necessary to attend the first road training race for the B4's this Thursday(Chili short course). A preemtive leg test you might say. The pack was pretty jumpy and I didn't no what to expect and just decided to follow Steve Johnson around.
That turned into being off the front in the first 500 meters of the bike race which obviously wouldn't last. On lap four after the first prime Steve launched again and without any real chase opened a quick gap. There were four Mac5 riders hovering on the front and after I suggested they might want to chase or counter attack Todd Simmonson pullled through (sorry if I butchered the last name). I pulled through after and decided I might as well attack to spark more speed. This quickly turned into a legit chase group with about five guys following my initial move. The efforts over the two slight rises before the long wooded straight away area created a break. Steve saw what was happening behind us and waited up. When we caught him we were about ten strong. Paul Knerr took an over boisterous pull into the start finish hill which killed off two or three people (including Paul). This established the winning break of 6. We worked well together and I nabbed second place in the sprint.
