Crit Season

Welcome to crit season.  Starting off was Glens falls, which was the cat 4 state championships.  Our field was mixed with cat 3s.

The team came with five racers, Owen the manager, still pro Griffo, Dino-Dinoto, and the Zotters. Prior to the race Aaron, Griffo, Steve and myself were interviewed by the local news crew, we were  the only racers interviewed before the start.

Early-on we lost Owen due to a crash.  The race plan was to have Griffo cover the early moves, and Aaron covering the late moves before moving back to pick me up for the sprint; plus, Steve was going to occupy the opposing teams with a late attack.  However, as Aaron and I began to move up Aaron was caught behind a late crash leaving me exposed to the wind.  I managed to move into 10th place on the last lap, but i wanted to be second.  Subsequently I was to far back to do any better than 8th overall and 4th for cat 4s, which was just off the podium and unacceptable.  I'm sure that you already know this because of the wonderful write-up on the local cycling clubs website, thanks for the acknowledgment.

Rochester is cold, wet and humid.  The cat 3 and 4 race started at 7 pm, which is past my bed time, plus, I missed re-runs of Scrubs.  In the race we had mega-roller Aaron Dinoto, fighting Gregg Griffo, pretty boy Steve, finally we come to the zigg.  Some say he naturally faces magnetic north, some say he has pneumatic legs, but we simple know him as ez-dz.  I was involved in an early crash, but by the time I was re-inserted into the field it was obvious that the rain was coming.  With the rain in mind I decided to move straight to the front, and a lap later I was fourth in line under opening sky's.  The crashes soon followed and a group of four were up the road.  With nobody willing to work together the results were sealed , and I was once again disappointed with my result, 12th.
